A Method of Glacier Identification with Interferometric and Polarimetric Sar
نویسندگان
چکیده
The glacier is important factor in climatologic and hydrological investigations. The remote sensing plays an important role on glacier inventorying and monitoring work. SAR systems have an important ability to observe the earth’s surface, independent of cloud conditions. Particularly, the SAR interferometry and polarization provide a useful tool for glacier investigation, such as extraction of glacial border. In this paper, the methods for glacier identification are introduced, using different SAR data , including C-band ENVISAT/ASAR, Radarsat-2 and L-band ALOS/PALSAR in the Dongkemadi glacier. The interferometric SAR provides the coherence information, and polarimetric SAR give rich information about density and phase; we build a new method for estimation of the glacial border. Finally, the characteristics and accuracy are analyzed. The results showed that the multi-temporal repeat-pass interferometric techniques and polarimetry techniques are efficient for glacier identification. Scene characterization using Sub-Aperture Polarimetric Interferometric SAR Data
In this paper, a fully polarimetric analysis method is introduced to decompose synthesized Interferometric SAR images into sub-aperture data sets, which correspond to the scene responses under different azimuthal look-angles. A statistical analysis of polarimetric parameters permits to clearly discriminate media showing a non-stationary polarimetric behavior during the SAR integration. A method...

This paper describes the analysis of built-up areas using fully polarimetric interferometric SAR data at L-band. This approach uses a polarimetric interferometric segmentation to determine the number of dominant scattering mechanisms required by an interferometric phase estimation using ESPRIT method.

The Helheim glacier in south-east Greenland faces a retreat and thinning like many other Greenland outlet glaciers, but showed two particular huge and fast retreats between 2000 and 2005, coinciding with an acceleration of glacier flow [1]. The estimation of glacier retreat and thinning are established procedures based on a variety of remote sensing techniques, e.g. SAR interferometry (InSAR) [...

Glaciers are directly affected by the recent trends of global warming. Himalayan glaciers are located near Tropic of Cancer this belt receives more heat thus Himalayan glaciers are more sensitive to climate change. Major rivers of Asia originates from these glaciers and they are only source of fresh water for millions of people living in Indian sub-continent. Due to highly rugged terrain and in...

The monitoring of maritime areas with remote sensing is essential for security reasons and also for the conservation of environment. The synthetic aperture radar (SAR) can play an important role in this matter by considering the possibility of acquiring high-resolution images at nighttime and under cloud cover. Recently, the new approaches based on the sub-look analysis for preserving the infor...
